Ritmüller

The Ultimate Expression of German Piano Heritage

A Legacy Reborn

Since its establishment in 1795, Ritmüller rapidly gained recognition and became renowned for its pioneering approach to piano production in Europe. Numerous eminent composers of the 19th century, including Johannes Brahms, held a deep admiration for Ritmüller pianos, with Brahms frequently playing on a Ritmüller in Göttingen. Ritmüller pianos today combine classical European artisanal techniques and components with advanced computer numerical control technologies, resulting in a range of instruments that produce the characteristic warm and rich tone that defines a world-class German piano. Ritmüller remains committed to pursuing excellence in design and performance that is worthy of its esteemed reputation.

Answering to a Higher Standard

Every model of Ritmüller piano is constructed on the bedrock of European piano design. Employing techniques such as wet sand-casting for iron plates, using close-grained solid spruce for soundboards, and incorporating German hammers and felt, rock maple bridges and pin-blocks, Ritmüller upholds the highest standards in crafting both upright and grand pianos.

A Favorite of the Maestro

Johannes Brahms, a prominent German composer, pianist, and conductor from the Romantic period, is often regarded as the inspiration for many composers who came after him, and his works remain a staple in modern concert repertoires. Alongside Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven, he is famously known as one of the “Three Bs” of music. Brahms, recognized for his unwavering dedication to perfection, played a Ritmüller piano while in the German city of Göttingen. It was in the Ritmüller’s private performance hall that another composer heard Brahms working on two symphonic pieces and suggested that he combine them to create his renowned Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15.

An Appreciation of Nature

Ritmüller is dedicated to the careful and conscientious use of natural resources. Our sustainable production procedures have earned us both environmental certification to ISO 14001 and management certification to ISO 9001, providing proof of our responsibility.

Here, we integrate traditional craftsmanship with advanced CNC digital technologies and consistently strive to enhance quality at every stage of production.

ONE DAY YOU MIGHT FIND YOUR PIANO HERE

Pianos are at the heart of everything we do at Pearl River. Our fascination extends beyond our own instruments, as we have spent years acquiring notable pianos to understand how the early European masters refined the craft of piano making and attained remarkable sound quality. This passion ultimately resulted in the establishment of the Pearl River Museum within our factory, which showcases everything from antique pianos to contemporary works of art. We hope that one day you will have the opportunity to visit and experience it for yourself.

YOUR PIANO IS PART OF A RENOWNED FAMILY

In 2009, Pearl River resurrected the Ritmüller name, which originated in 1795, by integrating traditional European hand craftsmanship with advanced CNC technologies to produce pianos that represent a world-class instrument with German heritage. Through Kayserburg, our aim is to restore its distinction with pianos that compel listeners and musicians to acknowledge their superiority. With both brands, the exacting standards of artistry and craftsmanship are evident in every Pearl River piano.

THE GUIDING LIGHT BEHIND YOUR PIANO

To create the finest pianos in the world, it requires a leader with unparalleled knowledge and an unwavering dedication to perfection. Pearl River has assembled a team of renowned European and American piano designers to bring this vision to fruition. Stephan Mohler, a Swiss master production engineer, supervises the entire manufacturing process and final assembly for all Pearl River brands. This meticulous attention to detail and artistry impacts the touch, playability, and tonal quality of every Pearl River piano.
